I'm Having A Blogoversary Contest!!

It was one year ago that the daughter of one of my friends helped me set up a blog for the sole purpose of being eligible to participate in a swap. I've swapped a few times since then, blogged more than I ever thought I would, and have made some really fun friends!

Well it's time to celebrate, so I'm having my first ever contest! I'm not a big time blogger, so if you're one of my three or four regular readers, your chances of winning should be pretty good!!

There will be two winners.
The first person whose name I draw
will get to choose one of these two books...
... and one of these hanks of yarn.
The second person drawn will get the other book
and the other yarn!
Easy as Pie!!
And, there will be some other goodies for both of the
winners as well.
Not sure yet what they will be, but I'm
thinkin' on it!
Here are the rules:
1. Leave me a comment and your name will be entered one time.
2. Mention my contest and link me on your blog and your name will be entered a second time.
3. Make a suggestion as to how I might use the Hand Maiden Sea Silk that is pictured in my previous post and you'll get another entry.
4. I'm going to try to be a good little blogger and post a couple of times this week. Come back and comment on those posts, and you're name will go into the hat yet another time.
The contest will end at midnight, one week from today. That's Sunday, May 18.
Good Luck, and Thanks for Entering!!!

Happy Blogiversary!!! I'll definitely make sure to mention your contest in my next post (possibly tonight?). As for the Handmaiden...mmm...maybe some No-Purl Monkey socks or one of those pretty smoke-ring cowls? Gorgeous colors! Maybe just sit and pet it? LOL

Hug the pups for me! :-)

I've already made a note to blog about your contest, and my suggestion would be the Sunday Market Shawl http://knitfish.livejournal.com/51964.html
which I just finished in bulky yarn. It's a great, quick pattern, and it would make a fabulous summer shawl if you did it on say... #10s or something??

I'm so glad you were able to get the lily replaced. I'm sure the little guy was just curious, and didn't mean to harm your gift, but STILL!!

Happy Blogiversary!
I will mention, most definitely, once I get home.

Happy blogiversary and I'd love to enter your great contest!
Suggestion for the sea silk.. the Drop Stitch Scarf or this cute summer top: http://handmaiden.ca/kit_capsleevetop.html

I think that yarn would be great as a stole or lace scarf or something.

Happy Blogiversary! I've got a skein of seasilk and I'm looking for something to do with it too. I'm down to the Trellis Scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/trellis-scarf), or the Zetor scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/zetor-scarf).

Happy Blogaversary!!!!

I have already added your contest to the blog

I was thinking Clara Parkes One Skein Shawl, or Swallowtail CindyG of BaxterKnits has a great Lace fichu that would work too!! Or what about the Ribbon Scarf from Ravelry that is so popular.

I am waiting on a skein from Little Knits, I have one Kathy from WEBS sent me in swap and I plan to use them both for Michelle's Shawl from ALison Hydes's Wrapped in Comfort book!

I love the color of yours, very classy!!!

Even though I knew you were planning something I read about this on CHan's blog first!!!

Zhenya said...

Congratulations on your first year!

I think you should make the Montego Bay scarf from Interweave Knits summer07> Should be gorgeous in the Paris colorway!

Happy Blogiversary! (You're the first one I've ever celebrated this holiday with!) I don't have a blog so I'll have to remember to come back and comment...

Handmaiden: hhhmmmm. I have a skein of this too. And after much thinking, I have decided to do some lace. There is a collar in Victorian Lace Today, can't remember the name but I think its in my favorites on Ravelry, that might work. Or a shawl from that same book. Thanks for the contest.

jsample@pixius.net said...

jsample (on Ravelry) again...
What about the Lace Ribbon Scarf - see examples over at Ravelry. I'm thinking of doing it in Dream in Color Smooshy in the wine color.

Yay for blogiversary! I've mentioned it in my post here

Hapy Blogiversary to you! Isn't the blog world great with the knitting hobby? (addiction, etc..however you define yourself in there)
I will link to you! I am just starting the Whispering Pines shawl at Knitspot. It looks so different and good for many uses...check it out! And if not that one the swallowtail shawl is always great as well!

crazzybunny said...

Happy blogiversary! That seasilk definitely wants to be something very lacey... like the very easy dropped stitch scarf. Pretty, but simple enough to keep the beauty of the yarn! You can find the pattern at http://christine.typepad.com/knitting/easy-drop-stitch-scarf-pa.html

1. Happy-Blaga-Blaga-versary!

3. Oh its like deja voo kindof. You should make a mini clapotis with this this colorway would be perfect that pattern. Hopefully you have enough I've seen people do it with just 300yrds. I say its kindof dejavooy because your sea silk reminds me of the Rayon yarn I just bought 3 of them to make Clapotis. check it out.

Happy Blogiversary!! How exciting to reach that year mark :D

I'd make some sort of gorgeous scarf with the sea silk, because that seems to be what I'm into lately - I really like the one I just made, or the one I couldn't do from Knitty!

Happy Blogiverary! I too started my blog to participate in a swap and have loved it. I found your blog through a post on Grace's. I'd love to enter your contest. As to the Sea Silk - my Mom made "Claires Easy Shawl" from one skein and it is gorgeous!

1. Sea Silk: I made the Montego Bay Scarf from wool, and I can imagine how dreamy it would be in Sea Silk. Plus, you wouldn't have any guilt-imposing scraps left at the end.

2. I'll post something about your contest on my blog next time I post. http://mightygoodyarn.blogspot.com.

3. Sally Unraveled sent me.

hello and happy blogiversary! I will be adding your contest on my blog today and link it to here and as far as your beuatiful sea silk I would make a very dainty and maybe even add a few beads to it, evening bag...you could make it very elegant or just make it more casual depneding on the embellishments...Or make a cute necklace and save the rest to show all your stitching friends...brag a little... :) I sure hope I am a winner since I now have a few chances..

Happy Blogiversary Alana! I've enjoyed your blog since I found it!

My suggestion for the sea silk is also some sort of lace shawl or scarf. The one I did for Xmas (Tuscany by Amy Singer) was designed for that yarn and the ones I've seen with it are absolutely beautiful! I think you may need 2 skeins though...not sure.

Thanks for the contest!

Thanks for the contest!
p.s. Mari sent me.

happy one year! Blogging is fun, isn't it?
What to do with the sea silk...I'd suggest some fingerless mitts, Spirogyra from Knitty if I were knitting them. Easy repeat, and prettier than they look in the photo when done.
Glad you've had a good first year. Hope there are many more to follow.

Hi! Found out about you/your contest from . I'll definitely add you to my list of blogs to read!

As for the Sea Silk... I am currently knitting the
Multi-directional Scarf out of a self-striping sock yarn and love the color play with the change of directions. You could do it on larger needles and maybe do a "yo, k2tog" row every so often to make it drapey and lacey. Hmm... I may have to go rip mine out and try that :o).

Cat said...

Happy Blogiversary!!!! How I love that skein of yarn, let's see... you can make La Dentelle Bella, a scarf that is lacey but easy and fast, or any scarf for that matter. Also there is a Grace Kelly Scarf/head wrap that is gorgeous from Morehouse Merino (listed and shown under scarves pg. 2). You could always try socks again. Hope these help.

Happy Blogiversary!!!

I've mentioned your contest on my blog,

Happy Blogiversary! I just read about the contest on smariek's blog. I actually have a blog but I only created it as a place I could stick html stuff, doubt I'll every blog since I don't do anything interesting. The seasilk yarn looks gorgeous - you must make a shawl or stole with it! If it were mine I would just pet it.
